Port de La Mer
Here are a few shots from Port de La Mer in Dubai. This is much more than a collection of residential buildings: it’s an entire man-made island with charming low-rise neighborhoods, townhouses, villas, a yacht marina, a waterfront promenade lined with restaurants, and its own private beach.
The development is located near Port Rashid, the historic Bur Dubai district, and bustling Deira. This part of Dubai is still waiting to reach its full potential, so not everyone is ready to live here just yet. But there are only a handful of low-rise, beachfront developments in Dubai with their own private beach—and La Mer is set to be the most affordable of them.
One-bedroom residences currently start at $550,000–650,000, two-bedroom homes cost around $900,000–1 million, while spacious three-bedroom residences with sea views range from $1.9 million to $2.2 million.
The island was developed by Meraas. The buildings are designed to resemble a charming European seaside village, a style Meraas does particularly well. But in my view, it will take a few more years for the island to truly come alive. Retail spaces have yet to open, restaurants and shops are still being fitted out, and the developer is putting the finishing touches on some of the façades.
