Canal Front – is there life near the canal?
One of my tasks is to photograph all the signature projects and locations in the cities where Whitewill sells real estate. Through photo stories, I try to capture the atmosphere and architectural details of these places to help our clients find a worthy place to live or invest.
A year and a half ago, I photographed the Channel Front residential complex from the waterfront. It was just being handed over. I didn’t get inside back then. This spring, one of our brokers invited me to see what it’s like inside. I’m publishing the photos.
In 2013, Dubai did something no other city in the world had done. It cut the entire city in two with a long canal. Six kilometers of new waterfront appeared. The project cost $540 million.
Ten years later, the Channel Front Residences residential quarter appeared on this waterfront. Eleven fourteen-story buildings carefully arranged along the water.
On the other side of the buildings lie hectares of greenery from Safa Park. The park runs right up to the residential complex. You can step out onto the pedestrian promenade along the water directly from the lobby. Bike paths and walking trails stretch for many kilometers.
On the stylobate, there are pools with a view of the water and a city panorama featuring the Burj Khalifa needle. There’s also a splash zone, a small playground, and a gym. Near the lobby is a lounge for residents.
The building isn’t overloaded with infrastructure. Retail hasn’t come to the ground floors yet. They’re waiting for the area to be populated. On the other side of the canal, expensive homes by H&H are being built. In a year or two, all the cranes here will be gone, and the place will begin to fill with life.
