Al Barari — Dubai's greenest neighborhood
One of my tasks is to photograph all the signature projects and locations in the cities where Whitewill sells real estate. Through photo stories, I try to capture the atmosphere and architectural details of these places to help our clients find a worthy place to live or invest.
The neighborhood in the photos is called Al Barari. You exit the highway, and a few minutes later you feel like you've entered a different climate zone. Humid air, dense greenery, silence, water, shade from enormous trees. It feels like a botanical garden where people just happen to live.
One client came for a viewing wearing a smart bracelet, and it showed that Al Barari has higher oxygen levels and cleaner air. There's no traffic nearby and an obscene amount of greenery. It's a vast neighborhood made up of several clusters of villas and residential complexes, mixed with greenery and entertainment. Each sector has its own architectural style and level of privacy.
Let's start with the origins of Al Barari — The Residences villas . Large family homes with gigantic plots and mature gardens where palms and trees have long since grown taller than the three-story houses.
Nearby is The Reserve . This is a collection of villas designed individually for each owner. The most secluded and most expensive part of the community.
The Nest is a modern cluster of 55 four-bedroom villas with private pools and green living walls . Next come two Chorisia clusters — compact villas with courtyards and cozy pools .
Ixora — architectural townhouses with strong geometry and plenty of glass . Lunaria — large modern villas of strict proportions, almost sculptural architecture . Altissima — a collection of contemporary villas in the southern part of the project.
And a separate ultra-premium cluster, Les 8 — eight grand villas, each with its own style, vast spaces, and the privacy of a countryside estate .
Alongside the villas, Al Barari has a whole ecosystem of residential complexes:
• Seventh Heaven — the main and most prominent building in the project, with cascading towers featuring huge terraces offering panoramic views over the green valleys .
• Ashjar — low three-story buildings so dissolved into the greenery that at first glance you can't tell where the garden ends and the architecture begins .
• The Neighbourhood — a compact cluster with a focus on sports, wellness, and a young community.
• The Cape — a new low-rise line of apartments designed for maximum contact with nature and minimum floor count.
The infrastructure in Al Barari has long become a lifestyle in its own right. The Farm — an iconic restaurant where people have breakfast to the sound of water amid dense greenery . After the shoot, I had dinner at the atmospheric new spot NETTE. Liked it .
A network of walking paths, waterways, bridges, jogging and cycling trails branches throughout the territory. There are several lakes and a lagoon. Here you hear birds, water, and wind — not the city.
Several of our brokers live in Al Barari. From the city center, it's about 20-30 minutes, which by Dubai standards is a lot. But when you're here, life slows down. People choose peace, large green spaces, and the feel of a tropical resort.
Walking through the residential quarters of Al Barari, I reached the lagoon. It offers a whole array of pools — for toddlers and for well-rounded gentlemen alike. The main pool has a 400-meter circular length.
Around it, townhouses nestled in greenery stand in neat, orderly rows. Step off your terrace, take a few steps, push off, and you're in the water. At the center of the lagoon stands a new sports hub, considered the heart of the neighborhood. I was filming there during its opening month.
On the ground floor — a Pilates studio, a beauty salon, and several gyms. On the second floor — a huge fitness center with large windows facing the blue lagoon. On the roof — a padel tennis court. At the foot of the club — beach volleyball, a tennis court, and a splash zone.
Dubai is building many projects with their own lagoons right now, and Al Barari is one example of how to do it right.
