UK at Expo2020.
The UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is a big screen stage for collective poems created by artificial intelligence.
Upon entering the central space, each visitor "donates" a word. A trained neural network combines the donated words into texts, generating a new collective poem every minute and displaying it on the large screen scenes of the main façade and inner atrium, consisting of hundreds of white monochrome displays.
The machine learning model was initially trained on five thousand poems carefully selected by a team of poetry curators. The artist and designer of the pavilion is S. Devlin.
The structure is made from wood sourced from the forests of Italy and Austria, the LED elements are designed in Belgium, manufactured in China, and the algorithm developed in California.
The building symbolizes the country's multicultural diversity and shows Britain as a meeting place for different philosophies, technologies and ideas.
