Muscat - the city between the sea and the mountains. Part 1
In January, our team, together with Oleg Torbosov, went on vacation to Muscat, the capital of Oman. This is how we celebrated record sales in November 2024 - and the mini-vacation was paid for by the company.
We explored the local real estate and lifestyle scene. And made plans to conquer this magical Arabian city. With its own character and mood.
Low-rise Muscat
The city is located between the sea and the Al Hajar mountain system. And stretches 50 kilometers along the coast, not going far inland. Somewhat reminiscent of Turkey and Greece with its mountain ranges.
You won't find any skyscrapers here. The whole capital consists of mid-rise houses of 10-12 floors, as well as small villas and townhouses. Almost all the houses are painted white and resemble the neighborhoods of Santorini.
A measured pace, no fuss
Don't expect huge shopping malls and luxurious Prada and Louis Vuitton boutiques from Muscat. For luxury Omanis go to Dubai, which is 4.5 hours by car on ideal roads or 1 hour by airplane. But the cool luxury hotels have been added in recent years.
You can find branches of global chains from Six Senses, Mandarin Oriental, St. Regis, W, Intercontinental, Shangri La, Kempinski, Jumeirah, Hyatt, Ritz Carlton. By the way, our team was just staying at the new St. Regis hotel in the Al Mouj neighborhood and then moved to Mandarin.
A tranquil vacation by the sea
The territory of Oman is washed by the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman, which are part of the Indian Ocean. Here there are 6 times fewer tourists than in Dubai, and much free beaches. And rarely where you can hear Russian speech.
Among our buyers, and we have already closed about 40 transactions, mostly Europeans who want clean sea, safety and similar tax policy to the Emirates. And prices for real estate of similar quality, but cheaper by 1.5-2 times.
At the same time, all projects are built among the mountains by the sea.
