JLT — Jumeirah Lake Towers
JLT is short for Jumeirah Lake Towers, because all the buildings here are tall and stand on the perimeter of three small lakes, and the waterfront is lined with dozens of all sorts of restaurants, stores and beauty salons.
The neighborhood is right across the street from Dubai Marina, and some local agents cynically refer to it as the "Marina for the poor," but I disagree.
The neighborhood is green, with two subway stations nearby. The cost of apartments and rent here is less than in Marina, so the contingent lives simpler. There are a lot of aesthetically strange cafes, eateries and hotels, but there are some nice places.
There are several new large residential complexes under construction in JLT, but the choice of good real estate is not very rich, mostly secondary not the first freshness.
In addition to residential buildings, this location also has a whole swag of business centers within the DMCC freezone.
