Freezone Dubai Design District.
Continuing to tell you about Dubai. Dubai Design District is one of the city's new creative districts. Companies from three main areas work here: design, art and fashion.
Abbreviated as d3, Dubai Design District is one of Dubai's twenty-three freerizons where entrepreneurs can start their companies with 100% foreign ownership without a local partner and with virtually zero taxes.
D3 is designed as a large creative cluster for design studios and art galleries, fashion clothing brands, creative workshops, furniture and decor manufacturers. Zaha Hadid, Puma, Lego - a total of 550 resident companies - have opened their headquarters here.
From early morning, the neighborhood is already buzzing with life. Author coffee shops are serving breakfast, and the streets between the office buildings are littered with art objects and installations.
At the entrance to each office block is a voluminous painted figure, and there are panels of different street artists all over the wall. The retail area is full of galleries, boutiques and service companies catering to designers.
At the center of the neighborhood is the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, a private educational institution opened in collaboration with Massachusetts MIT.
About 30% of the entire Design District is now realized, a large cluster of retail galleries and workshops is under construction across the street, and closer to the river, an unusual park called The Block opened a couple of years ago, which we'll talk about later.
