Dubai Walk - a new ecosystem of walking routes in Dubai
In December 2024, Sheikh Mohammed announced the launch of the Dubai Walk project to improve the pedestrian road network and add new routes. The program is being implemented as part of the ambitious Dubai 2040 project, with authorities promising to make the city pedestrian-friendly in 16 years.
What's coming
For residents, 3,300 kilometers of new pedestrian roads will be built and 2,300 kilometers of existing roads will be upgraded. The city will have 110 pedestrian bridges and tunnels to make it easier to get to the neighborhood. Walk or bike.
Where to build
The first phase of the project is planned near the Museum of the Future, where they will create a 2 kilometer long suspended pedestrian boulevard with 2 levels. And it will be easy to walk from the DIFC to the WTC.
The lower part of the boulevard is covered with air-conditioned plazas for summer time. And the upper level is a walking park with bike lanes and green trees. This suspended boulevard will connect ten key sites in the city.
You won't recognize the city
Along the beaches, 100 kilometers of new pedestrian boulevards will be developed. Also, 64 kilometers of promenades will be added in the central districts of Dubai.
